The week from August 19th to 25th, 60 Acroyoga teachers from 12 European countries met in Barcelona to share, learn, create projects and networks of contacts for social inclusion through Acroyoga, using this tool in prisons, refugee camps, marginalized children or in difficult situations, etc, to help people reassess themselves, communicate positively and find motivation and support in something new.
Oliver Chamorro was part of the main organization, together with Tatiana Felt who also had the support of a team of facilitators with extensive experience in different fields: Sharon Peregrina, Katarina Bauer, Karel Salet, Martin Daner, Heidi Blais, and Carú González.
It was a very productive week and full of workshops with diverse contents, from how to start a social project to how to get funding for it, how to campaign on social networks, use non-violent communication techniques and create support networks.
In addition, some people shared their experience working with AcroYoga in juvenile centers, refugee camps, prisons, as well as creative workshops to be inspired by new resources.
We even had a visit of 3 prisoners and their companion to share directly with them an AcroYoga workshop and later reflections on what they have lived, leaving them eager to take more workshops of this type to their jail and the rest of their classmates who couldn’t come to this activity.
This project was an important starting point to develop new projects and create a common platform of people interested in the subject to form a support and collaboration network.
The AcroYoga4all Facebook page, the Instagram account: AcroYoga4all was created and the platform’s website is under development.
Acroyoga Social Inclusión Training is a project funded or Erasmus +, and after this week of meeting, there are still 3 months of work and union among all participants with the aim of creating another 10 Social Projects so that marginalized people or in difficult situations have the direct benefit of this encounter.
